The Africa Area Program

Heifer has been working in Africa for over 30 years. The Africa Area Program was established in the early 1980s with the advent of program work in several countries including Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

The Africa Area Program increased its scope substantially throughout the next 15 years with expansion to three new country offices (Mozambique, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe), and project work through partners in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Malawi and South Africa. Today, the Africa Area Program continues to expand with the opening of two new country offices in Senegal and Sierra Leone in 2008.
